Current Work

2016

Being a college graduate, and stay-at-home-mom, I have found some new ways to channel my creativity and artistic abilities.

Since I was little I thought it would be super cool to be able to make beautiful cakes. So one day last summer I just decided to go for it. I watched some Youtube videos and explored Pinterest, bought my supplies and gave it a go! I have learned a lot from my own mistakes, because there have been many. But what I have learned most from this is to just go for things. To not be afraid to try something new. To give yourself permission to be awesome. ;)

Here are a few of my favorite, and most recent cakes.

Princess Cake
Rapunzel, Belle, Cinderella, Ariel

My neices' Birthday Cake
Sparkles!
Up House Wedding Cake!

This cake was a pain, but it turned out pretty good! :)

Senior Exhibition:

My current work centers around the idea of the human body, fashion, and our perceptions of beauty in western culture.

A few of the issues my work touches on are: Pornography and objectification of the human body; clothing, along with the beauty and fashion industries; body image and modification; The roll of motherhood and women in our society; self expression through dress; distorted perceptions of beauty due to media influences, and the psychology of fashion, or fashion's effect on ourselves and others. I see each of these as major issues facing women today and express my opinion through the work in my show. This show is currently showing.

Senior Show opens October 24th @ 5:00 pm in the North Plaza Gallery at Dixie State University.

The show runs until November 13th, and is open to the public during the hours the North Plaza is open. (generally 8:00am-9:00pm. on weekdays)
